Trade. The help window that pops up the first time you initiate a trade. Trade is a skill available to players and NPCs. Ranks in this skill reduce the difference in price between what you can purchase goods for and what you can sell goods for by 5% per rank. Trade: Buy stuff in bulk (high volume goods like food are actually great for this) and sell it at a profit. As soon as you have the perks that mark your profits, it gets even easier. Buy stuff so it goes from bright green to dim green in the "buy" window, sell stuff until it's no longer bright green in the "sell" window.
Apparently you don’t take a hit to your trade points for the initial massive loss, but you get skill points for the profits. Haven’t tried it though - I just grinded it out by running big caravan style trade routes. 1. Teldrean.
This is also a good way to get high level gear to sell. (15k for a horse you cant even use until the late game-At that point you can buy them easy.) How to Power Level Smithing. IN SHORT : Smith super high value weapons to do that just make weapons that deal extremely high damage weapons like two handed axes and two handed swords that require a high diffculty to smith. You'll go up 1-5 levels for just crafting one. I struggled with smithing like everyone else for a long time until recently
(Remember, you don't need companions with good Trade skill for caravan leaders. It's better to send combat-oriented ones with good Tactics, Leadership, and fighting skills. Trading will level up quickly on them, quicker than combat skills on a merchant.) Further Addendum: Winter 1, 1084. 19.6k denars. 3 caravans running.
