From knowledge of the OLD Golf GTI engines TB, you only had to re-calibrate the throttle body if you disconnected it, not if you cleaned it, however having someone in car while you clean it, is a big trust exercise, they let off that throttle and TB will eat
My Scirocco has been back to the VW dealer 3 times and on the last ocassion they changed the Camshaft Adjuster, but I still have the noise on start-up. I'm taking the car back again and will mention the Camshaft Positioner as a potential fault.

The 2.0 litre engine is known for this issue as it seems to be worse on that particular engine, or at least the coked up intake affects the idle more severely to the point misfires are registered. The 1.4 was thought to suffer less from it, but as you can see it's pretty much in the same boat as any DI engine.

One to Avoid – Volkswagen Scirocco 1.4 TSI BlueMotion Tech. The entry-level 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine is decent enough, but it really doesn’t give the Scirocco the kind of performance you’d expect from a sporty-looking three-door coupe.
