The main components of the SCR system are the SCR catalyst, the AdBlue injection unit, the AdBlue tank and the AdBlue dosing control unit. AdBlue is injected into the exhaust pipe upstream of the catalyst where its urea molecules react with heat and water to form ammonia.
On this new truck I’m getting about 5k with the 7.5 gal tank. I don’t stress about the fluid level and just wait until the 500 mile til empty warning pops up, then I stop at one of the gas stations with a Diesel island and fill up at the pump. I’ve got a few to choose from so I’m never that far from available DEF.
